fightknockers: The end product is very pretty, but sausage =/= burger. They are two very different flavor profiles.
NepalesePasta: This is probably pretty closed minded, but I feel so terribly sorry for anybody subscribing to a vegan diet. I am terrified to find out what “dairy free cheese” tastes like
pumpyourbrakeskid: ### Ingredients
#### For the dough
* 400g strong white flour
* 1/2 tsp sea salt
* 1 tsp quick yeast
* 1 tsp sugar
* 2 tbsp olive oil
* 325ml luke warm water
* Mix together and leave for a few minutes
#### For the onions
* 1 red onion – cut into rings
* 1 tbsp oil
* For the burger filling
* 6 Veggie sausages
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp salt
* 1 tsp pepper
* 1 tbsp olive oil
#### For the cheeseburger dough balls
* Vegan cheese, grated
* Dough
* Caramelised onions
* Mini burgers
* Sesame seeds
* Olive oil to brush the burgers
### Method
1. To make the dough: Add the flour and salt to a large bowl and mix well. Mix the yeast, sugar, olive oil with the luke warm water and leave for a minute or so. Create a hole in the middle of the flour and gradually add the liquid until you have a dough. Tip the dough onto a floured chopping board. Knead for a few minutes until the dough is springy. Transfer back to the bowl and cover with a damp cloth for about an hour. The dough should have doubled in size. Transfer back onto the floured chopping board and knead again to knock back. Divide the dough in half then half again until you get 18 small pieces of dough.
2. To make the onions: Add the olive oil and red onion to a small pan cook on a low heat for 20 minutes until soft and caramelised.
3. To make the burgers: Microwave the veggie sausages for 2 minutes and allow to cool. Add them to a large bowl with the garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mash together to form a mixture. Take small amounts of the mixture and use your hands to form into mini patties. Add all the burgers to a large pan with the oil. Fry on a medium heat for 2 minutes on each side. Set aside.
4. To make the cheese burger dough balls: Form the dough into a small circle. Firstly add a small piece of cheese, then a little fried onion, then the mini burger and another slice of cheese. Fold in the corners of the dough and squeeze together to seal. Transfer to a baking tray with a little olive oil in the bottom. Continue the process until all 18 are formed and in the baking tray and are nestled close to each other. Brush a little melted vegan butter over the top then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake on Gas mark 4/ 350 F/177 C for 25 minutes until cooked and golden on top. Allow to cool a little then dip into ketchup.

Fawltywares: No point in re-shaping the hot dogs into ‘burgers’ other than to add some seasoning which can be done as a sauce and save all that time and effort. Just call them ‘cheeseburger’dogs.
soundsfromoutside: Seems like I’m the only vegan here….
Those look delicious. Will probably stick with beans, tho.

rumspringahh: I don’t know how vegans do it, that cheese looked horrendous.
manbiteswolf: What a cute little ball of sadness

FreeSpeechDiedHere: Sounds like a recipe for Diarrhea
TheFrenchSuckAss: Just have to point out that dairy free cheese isn’t cheese, it’s yellow solid.
busterwilde: I like this idea, overall. Pizza bombs are one of my favorite things to make. Never thought about trying it with burgers before.
Not sure why not.
But I’mma pass on the “vegan” part. Veggie would be fine. Love me some black bean burgers. But I refuse to use “dairy-alternative” cheese (or dairy-alternative anything dairy, for that matter) because it’s legitimately one of the worst things I’ve ever had.
learnedperson: This does not look healthy. Why put olive oil on the pizza dough? And veggie sausages already have a lot of salt in them. I would not recommend adding more salt.
