**Dirty Vodka Martini (extra dry)**
* 2oz (60ml) vodka
* .25oz (7ml) dry vermouth
* 3 barspoons olive brine
* 4 olives
* Lemon twist
*Directions*
* Add liquid ingredients to a mixing glass
* Stir with ice for 45 seconds
* Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass
* Express oils from lemon over the top
* Garnish with olives on a pick
When I used to bartend (a long time ago) extra dry usually meant they wanted no vermouth at all. We would introduce the bottle, which was basically holding it over the cocktail and not pouring any in.
I was on a date once and I ordered a dirty vodka martini. My date had never tried one so he asked for the same, to which the (extremely flamboyant) waiter asked “D’ya want it *dirty?*”
I snorted loudly, and the waiter sassed “What? It’s a legitimate question.” Love me some dirty martinis, and whenever I have one I think about that moment.
