godrestsinreason: **Swedish Meatballs**
**Ingredients**:
* 1-lb ground beef
* 1/2 cup bread crumbs
* 1/2 cup minced onion
* 1/2 tbsp salt
* 1/2 tbsp pepper
* 1 egg
* 2 cups beef broth
* 2 cups milk
* 1 bag of egg noodles
* 1 tbst Worcestershire sauce
* 1 cup fresh Parmesan cheese
* 1/2 cup parsley
1. Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, salt/pepper, egg.
2. Roll them to desired size
3. Put a tiny little bit of olive or vegetable oil in the pan to help get the ground beef cooking.
4. Put the meatballs in the pan and let them sit for one minute. Don’t touch them, or they’ll stick to the pan and break apart. Just leave them alone for about 1+ minutes until they form a crust and you can move them. Flip and cook the other side for the same amount of time.
5. Add the beef broth, and simmer for a minute or two.
6. Add the milk, simmer for a minute or two until sauce thickens.
7. Add the Worcersterifjerfijhfre sauce.
8. Add the egg noodles, and cook until they’re ready. The texture is based on personal preference so just taste it.
9. Add parmesan and parsley.
**Personal preferences**
-Just cook the fucking pasta separately and add later on. I almost never recommend “one pot” meals unless you literally only own one pot.
-Don’t use a half a goddamn tablespoon of salt and pepper twice unless you want to taste nothing but salt. Add 1/4 tablespoon of each into the ground beef, and then add more to taste later.
-Use different kinds of late-season (fall/winter) spices as well, like nutmeg.
drice99: 1 pot, and 15 separate prepping bowls.
4lettersinfunction: Add some peas and allspice and you’ll never look back
Helophora: As a swede I can tell you that you are supposed to put the breadcrumbs in cream and/or milk to swell for about ten minutes before you add them to the ground beef. The seasoning is a matter of personal taste, and you can choose not to use breadcrumbs at all, or replace them with a mashed boiled potato, but never have I heard of just adding breadcrumbs without letting them swell first. They are supposed to make the meatballs moist and fluffy, just breadcrumbs without the liquid seems like it will do the opposite instead.
ShebanotDoge: Isn’t nutmeg supposed to be in Swedish meatballs?
TheLadyEve: As someone who just posted a picture of some of these I made last night, be prepared for angry people telling you:
1) To not use egg noodles
2) To not add Worcestershire sauce
3) To not cook the balls in the sauce
Good luck and god speed.
(I think this looks good)
plantwitchvibes: Those meatballs will be pretty flavorless without any real spices in them
MadeTarnish: The second I saw the cheese I said “stop it”. Looks amazinh
melonsmasher100: Meatballs would literally never be served like this in sweden. Worcestershire sauce? Noodles? Parmesan? Wat..
Apache_Cox: No garlic ?
areYOUsirius_: Like fancy hamburger helper.
I may actually try this, but toss in some veggies as well.
dreamcast360: Gonna have to try this, i always loved Swedish meatballs
Lessiarty: Do you do delivery?
BadgerousBadger: Why does the egg not scramble?
SnusOchNocco: Why are yanks so addicted too making swedish meatballs and cooking them in sauce? Its not as bas as what we swedes do too pizzas but cmon
