Insomnianianian: My 13yo makes these a couple times per month, but with more filling. It’s a very kid friendly recipe. 2 pepperoni (or sausage or whatever) and a cube of mozzarella. We brush the top with egg, oregano, basil, and garlic, not butter. I bake it in a cast iron skillet so that the edges touch to make pull-aparts. We tried it with individual rolls on a baking sheet and they inevitably exploded. Baking in the skillet helps keep more of the filling inside. I’ve tried it with pizza dough, refrigerator crescent rolls, and several types of refrigerator biscuits. Best result is with Grands refrigerator biscuits cut in half and rolled out.
