This recipe is a very authentic Bengali Dish. It involves cooking the crab with basic spices and mustard seed and oil. Please enjoy the recipe and let me know what you think about it !
**Ingredients :**
* 4 medium sized Atlantic blue crabs
* 1 tsp Nigella Sativa (black cumin)
* Some chopped cilantro leaves for garnish
* 1 medium sized tomato
* 3 tbsp Yellow mustard seeds
* 3 whole + 1 split in half green chili
* Oil – 3 tbsp
* 1/2 tbsp Red Chili powder
* 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder
* Salt as per taste
* 1.5 cups of water
* 2 tbsp Mustard Oil
**Directions:**
* Remove the hard outer body shell, clean the body and separate the legs of the crabs
* Make a paste of the Yellow mustard seeds and 3 whole green chili. Keep aside
* Blend 1 medium sized tomato. Keep aside
* Sprinkle the cleaned crabs with some salt and turmeric and coat them. Also sprinkle some all purpose flour on the inside of the body of the crab.
* Heat about 2 tbsp oil and saute the crabs for 3-4 mins. Flip and fry all sides. Keep aside once done
* Heat 1 tbsp oil. Add the black cumin and split green chili and fry for 30 secs
* Add the tomato paste, red chili powder,turmeric powder and salt as per taste
* Cook the spices until the oil starts to separate
* Add the mustard and chili paste and 1.5 cups water. Bring to a boil
* Transfer the crabs to the curry. cover and cook for 10 mins stirring in between.
* Add 2 tbsp Mustard Oil and mix. Top with Chopped cilantro
* Serve with steamed white rice
