I made a simple but delicious eggnog, if you want to try it yourself here is the real size recipe:
4 servings:
500ml cream
2 cinnamon sticks
1 vanilla pod
3 eggs
75gr sugar
100 ml bourbon whiskey or light rum
Pinch of salt
Nutmeg for garnish
Extract vanilla out of a vanilla pod and put it with the rest of the pod in a saucepan (you can also use vanilla extract). Add some cinnamon sticks (or ground cinnamon) and cream, then heat for 5 minutes and bring the mixture to a boil (start with low heat, then increase).
Separate egg yolk from egg white in two different bowls, then add sugar to the egg yolks and whisk together until fluffy. Remove the vanilla pod and cinnamon sticks from the original mixture and gently mix it into the egg yolks. Put it back in the saucepan and cook over medium heat while constantly stirring until the mixture is thick. While cooling off, add sugar to the egg whites and whisk it until firm peaks. Now gently fold in the whisked egg whites into the mixture – your drink is almost finished. You can now add bourbon whiskey or rum if you like, this is only optional though. If you want to drink it warm just put some whipped cream and a cinnamon stick on top of it and a little bit of nutmeg. You may also put it in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
