Gingercreeper: Could do without the click-bait-y title.
AmySchumersAnalTumor: make sure to use as spoon to transport the berries from bowl to pan prior to pouring remaining contents of bowl into said pan.
orchestraldragon: *And step 3 will absolutely SHOCK you!*
kittytitty18: I’ve made this before…ITS DELICIOUS and everyone loved it
I2ed3ye: What do I do if I’m all out and have no chill?
MrsBeam: European here… what is “whipped topping”?
And how salty will the base be with those pretzels, or are those not salted? I’m usually pretty hesitant with adding too much salt to things that are supposed to be sweet.
PopCultureJunkiee: RECIPE: [https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/strawberry-pretzel-dessert](https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/strawberry-pretzel-dessert)
INGREDIENTS
2 cups crushed pretzels (about 8 ounces)
3/4 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons sugar
FILLING:
2 cups whipped topping
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
TOPPING:
2 packages (3 ounces each) strawberry gelatin
2 cups boiling water
2 packages (16 ounces each) frozen sweetened sliced strawberries, thawed
Additional whipped topping and pretzels, optional
DIRECTIONS
In a bowl, combine the pretzels, butter and sugar. Press into an ungreased 13×9-in. baking dish. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
For filling, in a small bowl, beat whipped topping, cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Spread over pretzel crust. Refrigerate until chilled.
For topping, dissolve gelatin in boiling water in a large bowl. Stir in strawberries with syrup; chill until partially set. Carefully spoon over filling. Chill for 4-6 hours or until firm. Cut into squares; serve with whipped topping if desired. Yield: 16 servings.
Dartser: Okay but I’m going to skip the part of mixing hot melted butter in with my hands
TheConman12: My aunt always makes this

bluemints: I made this this past Thanksgiving and my mother in law gave me a great tip- transfer the baking dish to the fridge after you spoon the strawberries on top and carefully pour the gelatin mix onto while it’s already on the shelf. That way you don’t have to worry about spilling red gelatin on your kitchen floor when you move it to the fridge.
Sur_Rebuttal: Not a dessert in my in-law’s family; in the south, this is a side dish!
Jude124: In Pittsburgh we call this pretzel jello salad.
bobosuda: Isn’t this basically a cheesecake?
EDIT: Oops, sorry if I offended anyone. I just thought the recipe looked a lot like more stripped down type of cheesecake. I guess it isn’t.
IrradiatedBeagle: “Never knew you needed”? Is there really someone on this planet who didn’t grow up eating this for every cook out or family reunion?
DntPMme: This is just a cheesecake with a pretzel base.
hopehurts: Frozen strawberries are an abomination but I’d still eat this
